English term or phrase: principal

I am translating the General Conditions of Carriage for a UK airline and am unsure as to how I should translate principal in this context.

This is in a paragraph on how to make a booking and what happens when you make a booking:

Once the Booking is accepted by us and you receive your Confirmation Document there is a contract between us. We act as *principal* for that contract unless you book through an agent.Your reservation is only confirmed at this point. Services and/or products other than Baggage that are shown on our website have separate terms and conditions relevant to those products.
The suppliers of those services and/or products act as *principal* in relation to those services (e.g. car hire, hotels, insurance, car parking) and we act only as their agent.

Asker: Auftraggeber hatte ich eigentlich ausgeschlossen. Wenn überhaupt, dann müsste es doch eher Auftragnehmer sein?

Auch auf die Gefahr hin, dass der Auftrag schon geliefert wurde oder die Antwort anderswo aufgetaucht ist:

Gemeint ist m.E. "principal contractor", der Hauptvertragspartner, der nicht als Unterauftragnehmer handelt sondern Vertragspartei ist.
