Zunächst vorweg: der Begriff heißt Interpolation oder Interpolieren.

Befragung am 1.1. ergibt: 100 Teilnehmer, 50% geben an, ihnen ginge es gut, 50% geben an, ihnen ginge es garnicht gut.

Am 1.1. des Folgejahres erreichen wir noch 50 Probanden. Wieder geben 50% an, es ginge ihnen gut, 50% geben an, es ginge ihnen garnicht gut.

DAO oder Last observtion forward behaupten nun, wenn wir von 50 Probanden die Daten haben, dann ist die Relation bei der ursprünglichen Gesamtheit 100 Probanden die gleiche: 50 geht es gut, 50 geht es nicht so.

In der Realität wäre es natürlich denkbar, dass 50 Probanden gestorben sind.

The tables provide the mean score at baseline and the mean change score at follow-up for each test (data as observed, i.e., without imputation).

"Data as observed analysis (DAO)" ist offenbar eine Methode zur Datenanalyse.

"Patients may withdraw from longitudinal clinical trials for many reasons. Methods for handling the problem presented by missing data of patients who withdraw before reaching the time point of the primary measurement include carrying the last observation forward (LOCF), data as observed analysis (DAO), mixed model approaches, and pattern mixture models."

Zugrundelegung nur der vollständig vorhandenen *oder aber* der tatsächlich erhobenen, wenn auch unvollständigen Daten, jedenfalls nicht unveränderte Fortschreibung oder gar Expolation der bisher nur unvollständig gewonnenen Daten in die Zukunft (LOCF), vgl.:
