English term

Watch mechanism

English to German Tech/Engineering Mechanics / Mech Engineering
The phrase "watch mechanism" is used as headline for an index describing the OUTER parts of a watch.
WATCH MECHANISM
-hour hand
-minute hand
...
The direct translation Uhrenmechanismus sounds more like inner parts to me. Could someone help me out on a better verbalisation?? Thanks

Maybe you can give us the complete list which should be reflected by the header?

Agree. I find none of the answers acceptable and did not propose one myself.

Idea>> Thank you all for your answers. Meanwhile I found, that "uere Mechanik" is probably the most suitable for this application. If you have still good ideas or comments on my idea, please keep on posting! I didnt decide it yet.
Dipl.-Ing. Robert Bach (X) Aug 20, 2004:
I agree with you: the English is wrong. Unfortunately this is a recurring problem in translation. The mechanism is inside and drives the clock face components. In English "clock face" includes the hands; in German "Ziffernblatt" does not.

Bedienungsmechanismen

Vielleicht hilft meine Idee bzgl. der äußeren "Einstellungsknöpfe". Evtl.
