English term or phrase: temporal cortex
Kontext: Künftige Bedeutung von Biomarkern für die Erforschung der Alzheimer-Krankheit
The effort to develop diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers has enormous implications for our nomenclature and future clinical practices. When the 1998 NIA consensus conference met to define the ideal characteristics of a diagnostic marker, they cited ease of use, simplicity and low cost as three practical considerations.12 As a result, brain biopsy is not likely to be considered noninvasive, simple to perform or inexpensive in the near future. However, if it were proven that a certain level of -amyloid deposition in the ***temporal cortex*** of a normal on biopsy was highly associated with AD in 2-3 years or if early intervention with a (yet-to-be-determined) -amyloid prevention agent resulted in a significant delay or prevention of AD, then even the brain biopsy procedure would take on a new light. For now, the science of biomarkers still has room to grow before it significantly alters the diagnostic nomenclature for dementia, and preventative medications are still a dream of the future, but the day of biomarkers in the diagnosis and treatment of AD is rapidly approaching.

Temporallappenrinde
Explanation:
Der Begriff "Rinde" sollte in der Übersetzung auftauchen, da der Temporallappen (Lobus temporalis) eine Volumenausdehnung hat, es hier aber nur um die Rindenschicht geht.

agree  Florian v. Savigny: Absolut richtig! Und was spricht eigentlich gegen "temporaler Kortex" (s. a. die Anmerkungen von Gerhard und Susanne oben)? Das ist unter Medizinern m. E. n. *weithin* üblich.

agree  Cornelia Schmidt: Vollkommen richtig! Temporallappen und die Rinde des Temporallappens sind doch zwei verschiedene Dinge, finde die Variante "temporaler Kortex" auch nicht so schlecht.
