The new snout assembly will have the ability to position the weirs in relation to the strip and molten zinc bath surface. There are three objectives to correctly position the weirs:

- Both weirs will be in the correct vertical position in relation to the molten zinc bath level. Both weir edges must be approximately 5mm below the molten zinc bath surface at all times.
- Both weirs will be level to the molten zinc bath level across the width of the strip.
- The weirs will be equidistant away from the point where the strip contacts the zinc. This distance will be approximately 40mm horizontally.
