While the other cannons fired I was thinking about what could have gone wrong. I had checked the ***breach*** like we always did before the ceremony. The firing pin wasn´t broken, everything was lubed, everything worked perfectly. I was the one who messed up. I didn´t pull the lanyard hard enough.

Es handelt sich um eine Kanone aus der Zeit des Vietnamkrieges, die später nur noch zum Salutschießen verwendet wurde.
Wie lautet der richtige Fachbegriff für "breach"? Danke!

agree  Werner Walther: Muss wohl 'breech' heißen, als 'breach' fand ich nichts. Wird auch bestätigt durch die Nennung des 'firing pin' (Schlagbolzen), der mittig auf die Zündkapsel im Patronenboden schlägt.
