Umstrukturierung (?) Explanation: This sounds almost like a euphemism for "shakeout" to me. If that hunch is correct, then it would be Umstrukturierung, or Gesundschrumpfung or Verschlankung (less formally put), or even Personalabbau (but make sure I interpreted this correctly before using any of these suggestions. Umstrukturierung Explanation: A search on "corporate workout" will yield about 140 or so hits; most of them from South East Asia. From the contents of those websites, it would seem that Kristina is right - this has to do with restructuring. See, for instance, the following: Framework for corporate restructuring. Corporate and financial restructuring takes time. In order to avoid an unnecessarily long period of uncertainty and slow growth, however, a country's government needs to enhance efforts to resolve these systemic problems. A comprehensive approach requires an active government that will eliminate obstacles to restructuring; facilitate both formal and informal debt workouts; and establish an effective new legal, regulatory, accounting, and institutional framework. http://www.imf.org/external/pubs/ft/fandd/1999/03/iskander.h... Or look at these URLs: http://www.kois.go.kr/government/issue/press-kit/1999/econom... http://nuance.dhs.org/lbo-talk/9811/0623.html Umstrukturierung would be the most "generic" translation that still conveys the meaning of the original.
