Careful. "Wo" means "where...?", as in "Where is it?", while "wohin" means "where *to*"...?", as in "Where is he going?" In Eng. we tend to use "where" in both cases. "Wohin" corresponds to the obsolent Eng. "whither".

it's actually quite easy to find out which one is meant.

Wo.... (rest of sentence)?
- then it's the English "where"

Wohin.... (rest of sentence)?
- then it's "whither" or "where to"

Wo... (rest of sentence)... hin?
- again, it's "where to", but not so easy to see because the little word "hin" can be at the very end of the sentence - look carefully!
