A German language Google search on "et al" produces 158000 hits. Conclusion: "et al." is in common use in the German language.
It would be wrong for a translator to guess what the author meant with "et al." ("Mitarbeiter" and/or "Firmen"). "andere" or "weitere" sounds home-cooked.
I withdraw my previous suggestion and recommend leaving the Latin "et al." in the translated text.
