English term or phrase: cross polariser
Aus einer Kursbroschüre zu einem Seminar über Dentalfotografie für Zahntechniker oder Zahnärzte. Es geht um einen Filter, der auf den Blitz gesteckt wird, um Reflexionen zu vermeiden.

Context:
"The same situation shot using the polar_eyes cross polariser. The reflective images provide valuable
information about the overall appearance of the teeth including surface details."
"Once the reflected photography sequence is completed we switch to another camera which has the polar_
eyes cross polariser mounted to the ring flash."

Doppelpolfilter
Explanation:
Consists of two polarisation filters in one filter mount, one of which is rotatable.

The removal of light polarised in one particular plane is particularly effective for removing reflections when shooting shiny surfaces/subjects (As can be seen in the examples).

The advantage of a cross-polarizer/Doppelpolfilter as that the degree of removal can be adjusted from simple polarisation to complete filtering (i.e. no light at all is let through).

This effect makes them useful for reducing light without the need for a neutral density (ND) filter or changing the lens aperture.

The use of polarizers (Polfilter) in conjunction with polarised light is also useful for revealing stresses in materials or details that would otherwise remain invisible in normal light
