Die Maskierung zur Erzeugung der Mikrostruktur erfolgte bis dato meist über einen Film. Jetzt wird auch Glas verwendet. Gründe: Bessere Maßhaltigkeit, geringer Ausdehnungskoeffizient usw.

I wonder if you this is what you are looking for. I saw this in a document from a manufacturer of protection goggles for radiologists.
Plain protection glasses were referred to as "Schutzbrille", and in order to be properly effective they have to have protection to the side as well as from in front - this was referred to as the Seitenschutz.
This makes we monder if what you have is a doubtful translation, the English is not really clear, and could be a rendering of what I have suggested. (It wasn´t me, though, I translated it as "radiation goggles with dies protection".
