Fyrirgefðu, en ég get ekki borðað... Explanation: I do not know the context, but I presume that the meaning is "I am sorry, but...". Therefore my suggestion is based on that. Since you have "can not" instead of "do not" I guess the speaker is referring to someone's advise. Excuse me = Fyrirgefðu. "Afsakaðu" is another option. en = addition, meaning "but" The six words: 1. Meat = kjöt (this would most likely refer to lamb or veal.) 2. Pork = svínakjöt (Icelandic has in fact only one word over the flesh of animals, then we add the name of the animal before the word "kjöt".) 3. Poultry = hænsnakjöt (since the word is "poultry" we are not talking about "chicken" which would be "kjúklingakjöt" or "kjúkling(ur)" in Icelandic.) 4. Fish = fisk (as all the other words, this is in the accusative. The nominative for fish is "fiskur".) 5. Eggs = egg 6. Thank you! = þakka þér! (it depends where in the sentence this is. If the sentence starts with it, then you have to capitalise the first letter "Þakka þér!") |
