Frasa di atas menggambarkan kondisi kapal yg perbandingan kekuatan gerak maju dan kekuatan gerak turun/tenggelamnya 1 banding 6.

Dg kata lain gaya tenggelamnya jauh lebih besar daripada gaya majunya, sehingga pada dasarnya kapal tsb dalam kondisi bergerak tenggelam, bukan bergerak maju sebagaimana seharusnya.

Dalam kondisi normal, gaya gerak majunya harus jauh lebih besar daripada gaya gerak turun/tenggelam agar kapal dapat bergerak maju dan tetap dalam posisi di atas permukaan air (tidak tenggelam).
