Mockingbird, saya kira apabila teks yang Anda terjemahkan memang ditujukan bagi orang Indonesia, istilah becak sendiri sudah cukup jelas tanpa perlu ditambahkan dengan penjelasan tentang sidecar. Agar teks mengalir dengan lebih alami, saya kira penjelasan tersebut bisa dihilangkan. Namun becak sendiri biasanya lebih mengacu kepada becak yang dikayuh dengan sepeda, sedangkan dalam teks Anda sepertinya becaknya dijalankan dengan motor. Kalau memang motor yang dimaksud, mungkin istilah 'becak motor' bisa digunakan (coba lihat di Google). Tapi kalau memang sidecar harus diterjemahkan, saya sepertinya lebih condong untuk menerjemahkannya menjadi 'gerobak'.

agree  Hipyan Nopri: benar seperti yang diusulkan pak John. Lebih pas diterjemahkan 'kabin penumpang.' Karena sebagaimana disebutkan di teks, 'a big empty box' digunakan untuk barang.
