Di nuovo opzioni Mac! Spero che l'ottima Roberta possa ancora aiutarmi :)

Ho trovato dei vecchi glossari Mac (del 1996!) che lo traducono come "Auto Imposta", ma nella memoria di traduzione che mi hanno fornito (non Mac) è tradotto come Impostazione automatica. Ecco il paragrafo in questione:

Install a Printer for a USB Connection on an Apple Mac Operating System (OS) 9
Copy the PPD files onto the hard drive:

NOTE: A PPD file describes a printer's features such as the number of paper trays, available paper sizes, whether or not the printer supports two-sided (duplex) printing, and so forth. A Generic PPD can be used; however, only basic printing options will be available when printing.

From the workstation, copy the PPD files onto the hard drive. See the Related Items below for additional information.
Install the printer:

Open the Desktop Printer Utility:
Double-click on the [Hard Drive].
Double-click on the [Applications (Mac OS9)]folder.
Double-click on the [Utilities] folder.
Double-click on the [Desktop Printer Utility].

NOTE: If unable to find the Desktop Printer Utility, search using Sherlock. Simultaneously, press the [Apple] (command) key, and the [F] keys on the keyboard. A Search window will be displayed. Type: Desktop Printer Utility (including spaces). When found, double-click the [Desktop Printer Utility] to open it.


Click on [LaserWriter 8] (8.7.1 or later) in the first pull-down menu.
Click on [Printer (USB)] from the list of available printer ports and then click [OK].

NOTE: If Printer (USB) is not an option, make sure the Desktop Printer Utility is version 1.2 or higher. Earlier versions may not list USB Printers as an option. If a later version is needed, download this from the Apple website. See the Related Items below.


Click on the [Change] button next to the USB Printer selection.
Select the appropriate printer and then click [OK].

NOTE: If the printer is not displayed in the list, make sure the cable is working properly by connecting it to a known working device. If a USB hub is being used, try connecting the printer directly to the Macintosh USB port. If the problem persists, reboot both the printer and the workstation.


Click on the ***[Auto Setup]*** button. The OS 9 will automatically select the correct PPD file and configure the appropriate printer options.
When the setup is complete, click [Create].
Provide a name for the printer, or use the default name, then click on [Save] to create the Desktop Printer.
Click on [File] from the toolbar, and then select [Quit] to close the Desktop Printer Utility.

Sono gradite anche conferme delle traduzioni di Desktop Printer Utility (Utility Stampanti Scrivania, secondo la memoria di traduzione) e Quit (Esci, secondo il mio glossario del 96).
