I think you will have to leave it in English as it's a specific project management term: "a breakthrough project creates products which are very different from the current portfolio either in terms of technology or
process utilized ...typically has a great deal of technical and market uncertainty...."
Compare with INCREMENTAL PROJECTS (graduali):
"...typically create line extensions and feature enhancements to existing product platforms...contain minimal product and process development efforts and require fewer resources.

la parola *breakthrough* è piuttosto forte (dà l'idea di una svolta, di un passo significativo), quindi a mio parere qui ci vuole una espressione un pò enfatica
