In un videogioco di gare in sella a una mountain bike, mi trovo la seguente frase quando il tutorial vuole insegnare al giocatore ad affrontare la salita di una collina:

"Release the pump before uphill to avoid speed loss."

Mentre quando deve affrontare la discesa, trovo questa frase:

"XXX affects how much pumping increases your downhill speed."

Qualche gentile suggerimento sul termine in oggetto? Secondo voi pump/pumping andranno tradotti in modo simile nelle due frasi?

Asker: Ciao Gaetano, il mio dubbio era proprio quello di usare semplicemente "pompa/pompaggio" sia perché non riuscivo a collegarlo al verbo "release" della frase sia perché mi sembrava troppo letterale come scelta. Non penso che un ciclista su mtb "rilasci la pompa" prima di affrontare la salita, non mi sembra abbia molto senso. Forse ha più senso se vediamo "pump" come "sforzo" o "energia", allora... Che ne pensi?

Da quello che ho letto dovrebbe essere "sblocca la pedalata" nel senso di cambiare rapporto alle marce.
In italiano ho trovato anche il termine non tradotto ma riferito ai circuiti. Pump track. Vedi link
