Una particolarità dell'utilizzo dell'espressione "reasonable man standard" è che è un parametro che viene utilizzato più spesso in materia di atto illecito al quale il giudice fa ricorso per definire la diligenza richiesta nel caso concreto. Da noi invece viene utilizzata in relazione all'adempimento delle obbligazioni.

Se non vuoi azzardare la traduzione per i motivi sopra esposti potresti lasciare l'espressione in originale, anche perché poi specifica "in the United Kingdom". Il significato comunque rimane quello "legale" che suggerisce il De Franchis, e puoi, come giustamente già suggerito da Jim, inserirlo in nota.

I can't help feeling that while the technical legal indications might be correct. on the level of connotations, the cultural connotations are too great without at least a translator's note. Especially if it is about things like arranged marriages.

Could we have a little more context please? May be the next sentence. The author seems to be actually saying that you can't apply UK law and standards when you are operating in another country, which seems a bit banal. What springs to mind from the press and current events is that you cannot apply the standards of another country (e.g. India) to immigrants when you are operating in the UK.

dopo varie ricerche sono arrivata alla conslusione che dovrebbe corripsondere al nostro "bonus pater familias" o "uomo medio", come suggerito da valentina.

The standard instructions that a judge gives to a jury (since long before magna carta) of 12 "peers good and true" that a person is innocent until proven guilty "beyond all reasonable doubt". I would translate literally and add a note.

A non-legal translation would simply be "gente ragionevole". The nearest equivalent I can think of is "buon padre di famiglia" in the broad sense of average honest people. Not sure you can go that far with a translation, but you could use it in an explanatory note.
