Il significato di "wear" in questo contesto e' "consumarsi".

La frase secondo me dovrebbe essere tradotta cosi': la doppia immersione puo' apportare vantaggi funzionali, come quelli dell'isolazione elettrica che consumandosi (o usurandosi) etc..."
Potresti precisare di che materiale si tratta?

Asker: materie plastiche, ma ripeto che cosa signifca che "l'isolazione elettrica si CONSUMA"??? e "mette in evidenza l'assotigliamento del materiale". A parte che a me sembra uno svantaggio non un vantaggio
