Si tratta di letteratura di genere per un pubblico YA, l'autrice è americana.

Non ho trovato nessuna occorrenza di questa espressione. Basandomi sul contesto, la mia ipotesi molto libera è "l'avrebbe fatto andare su tutte le furie". L'espressione che più si avvicina sul dizionario (Ragazzini) è "to blow a fuse", che vuole dire proprio infuriarsi/andare fuori dai gangheri.
