A. For all Hydroblasting jobs, a Safety Attendant shall be assigned. (see Roles and Responsibilities)
B. Ensure that the use of all hydroblasting equipment and hoses are in compliance with the manufacturer's recommendations, including inspection and testing requirements.
C. The operation of the failsafe operating valve shall be tested prior to use.
D. Supply enough lighting to ensure that the job can be performed safely.
E. Hydroblasting pumping equipment shall be placed to minimize exposure to exhausts or potential pressure relief device discharge.
F. Hydroblasting equipment must be grounded.
1. Ground the hydroblasting compressor to the same ground grid system as the piping or vessel being hydroblasted. If well bonded to earth, it is best to bond it directly to the piping or vessel being cleaned.
2. If the equipment being cleaned is removed from the structure (i.e. heat exchanger tube bundle) and is no longer bonded to the ground grid directly, ground the vessel to the area ground grid with a jumper cable and approved ground clamp. Then connect the hydroblasting equipment to the vessel.
3. Use a metal or ***metal traced/conductive lance*** supply hose to reduce static generation where water flow is highest.
4. Follow local electrical testing and grounding procedures.
