Pressure Ulcer Prevalence: A combination of exempt nurses with current clinical skills (e.g., ET nurses, clinical nurse specialists, educators, and unit managers) and staff nurse experts should be considered for the inspection team. Chart review may be conducted concurrently by other staff with skill in reading documentation. Using a ―team‖ for the observation portion of the study may be helpful for conducting skin inspection (e.g., to help turn immobile patients for inspection). To help decrease the likelihood of bias in observation, consider assigning observation team members to study units other than their regularly assigned work unit.
