English term

Sprachgefühl

English to Persian (Farsi) Social Sciences Linguistics Intuition and Language
Greetings

This is a loanword from German and literally means “language feel”. It can refer to one’s intuition about one’s own language and also to one’s intuition about a foreign language. I prefer the German original spelling, but some might find this pedantic.

Here is Alpha Dictionary’s definition and example:
an intuitive feeling for the natural idiom of a language ("Dubyuh has no sprachgefuhl")
By the way, “Dubyuh” is supposed to represent the typical Southern USA pronunciation of the name of the letter W and is used to refer to George W. Bush; the W in his name is important as it distinguishes him from his father, George H. Bush, although to complicate matters slightly, the latter is often known as George H. W. Bush.

All the best, and many thanks,

Simon

Discussion

Mohammad Ali Omrani Oct 2, 2013:
No, here there isn't a kasre after درونی. The correct pronounciation is "hess-e daruni nesbat be zabān".
SeiTT (asker) Oct 2, 2013:
Sorry, the system wouldn't let me post this below: Thank you so much – just one more thing: in حس درونی نسبت به زبان, is there an extra kasre after the word درونی?

I.e. is the correct pronunciation “hess-e daruni-ye nesbat be zabān, please?

Dear Simon, It is "حس درونی" ("dæruni")and means inside feeling about something. This feeling can be without any reason and a person can have this feeling towards something like language without conscious reasoning.
