@All: I just spoke with the company president, Mr. Jack Kent. It turns out that many people in the company have Polish ancestors, so we spoke about Kosciuszko - the birth town Mr. Kent's mother - and other things such as Kosciuszko Uprising. The document was written by Chris Brightwell, who is no longer with the company; however, Mr. Kent says that "allies" is used in the sense of "related" and or "similar," not symbiotic or phylogenetic. Wynika z niego, że allies to organizmy pokrewne/gatunki pokrewne żyjące właśnie w symbiozie z zooksantellami, które w zamian za dostęp do światła, produkują składniki odżywcze, którymi żywią się z kolei bezkręgowce rafotwórcze.

Znalazłem definicje w Websterze, "a plant or animal linked to another by genetic or taxonomic proximity", czyli raczej wersja Błażeja niż Franka z zastrzeżeniem, że one muszą być pokrewne w jakiś sposób genetyczny.

Trzeba się temu bliżej przyjrzeć. Wydawało mi się tak na pierwszy rzut oka, że to symbionty, ale teraz nie jestem pewien. Nie wgłębiłem się w temat. Trzeba znaleźć "ally" w polskiej publikacji.

Jeśli chodzi o symbionty, niestety to raczej nie będzie właściwe znaczenie tym razem:

Na stronie coralhouse, "allies" tłumaczone jest jako "sojusznicy". Nie jestem jednak pewien, czy to właściwy termin po polsku (sojusznicy/sprzymierzeńcy) - nie znalazłem niestety innych źródeł...
