The oil flows through the orifice and into the bearings and forms a film that cools and lubricates the journal. Pressure switches at the bearing supply header provide low pressure alarm and shutdown signals to the unit control panel. If the supply pressure drops, a low lube oil pressure switch automatically starts the auxiliary lube oil pump.
