Explanation:
The name "Phyllocian" from the clay-rich phyllosilicate minerals that characterize the epoch:

Those minerals are called "filossilicatos" in PT-PT. (Although a lot of people misspell it as "filosilicatos", which would read "filozilicato").

Taking the example of the Ordovician period (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ordovician) from Earth, which translates to "Ordovicíco" in PT-PT, I would say that "Filócico" would be a good translation.

"Filociano" is an option too, like "Ordoviciano".

Caro El_Diablito,

Provavelmente não irá encontrar qualquer referência a confirmar que de facto "Filociano", como de resto eu também indiquei na minha resposta, é o termo exacto. Nestes casos haverá nada ou muito pouco escrito em português em relação ao assunto. Nos sítios onde é mais provável encontrar este assunto, são os mesmos que, pelo nível de linguagem técnica, por vezes não é preciso referir o período por um nome próprio, mas sim pelas características que o definem, consoante o necessário.

Assim sendo, o que é preciso fazer nestas casos, é formar uma nova palavra de acordo com as regras da língua portuguesa. O que de resto é perfeitamente aceitável. Como lhe disse, partindo da analogia da formação da palavra no exemplo que lhe dei (Ordovícico), parece-me que tanto "filócico" como "filociano" serão correctos.
