Appret covers all finishing processes that provide textile fabrics with a special character, for example, feel and appearance. In this way one receives the sales characteristics and the service value and obtains fashionable e ects. Finishing is done predominantly as the final task, especially on piece goods.

All processes that improve the processing and performance characteristics of a textile fabric by application of appret agents on the textile fabric and drying of the article belong to the group of chemical appret.

The appret agents used should neither damage the textile nor change the color and have to be environmentally safe.
