In Evul Mediu pentru turnarea statuilor de bronz s-a folosit procedeul în ceară pierdută, care permitea turnarea dintr-o singură bucată, în timp ce în antichitate se folosea metoda turnării pe bucăți, urmată de asamblarea acestora.

Ce este "turnarea cu ceara pierduta"?

Turnarea de precizie cu ceara pierduta este o metoda speciala de reproducere cu acuratete a pieselor metalice complicate, foarte mici, inlocuind spre avantajul clientului, lungile procese de asamblare. Modelul original este copiat cu acuratete prin intermediul unor mulaje de silicon si reprodus in ceara. La randul lor, copiile din ceara (reproduceri in pozitiv a modelelor originale) vor fi acoperite cu ceramica speciala. Formele obtinute vor fi arse timp de mai multe ore permitand astfel cerei sa se topeasca, lasand in locul ei tiparul ce apoi va fi umplut de metalul turnat.
