Persoanele ce compun echipajul sunt: cãpitanul sau patronul, ofiterii, marinarii si lucrãtorii indicati în *rolul echipajului*, format în modul prevãzut de regulamente, precum si masinistii, fochistii si toate celelalte persoane functionând sub orice numire în serviciului masinilor la vasele cu abur.
*Rolul* va arãta salariile sau partea de beneficiu datorate persoanelor echipajului. Celelalte conditii ale înrolãrii trebuie cuprinse în contractul de înrolare.
