Metric este "2. Mathematics A geometric function that describes the distances between pairs of points in a space." [adică la fel ca în exemplu, o funcţie de tip D(x,y)]

Dar, pentru a evita confuziile cu alte "metrice" cred că "sună" cel mai bine (chiar dacă ne e cea mai concisă variantă)
