English term or phrase: Enthroned and Blessing Christ
For instance, the apse of St Peter and St Paul at Reichenau is decorated with wall paintings of around 1100, including a Christ in Majesty in the centre. The portal of the former Benedictine Abbey Church at Alpirsbach, which is also from around 1100 or slightly later, has a tympanum with a similar image of the Enthroned and Blessing Christ. Alpirsbach was one of the reformed Benedictine monasteries which were founded in south-west Germany at the end of the eleventh century under the impact of Cluny and Hirsau.
