Реактор заполнен (жидкими) углеводородами не полностью, в нем еще 20% свободного объема (или высоты - это, наверно, равнозначно), который продувают парами (или же это паровое пространство образуется за счет продувки парами). Назвать этот void пустотой неправильно, имхо (природа не терпит пустоты), лучше назвать паровым пространством
