English term or phrase: bottle a tackle
United demolished the 'Boro with embarrassing ease. This was a performance right out of the top drawer, and I don't remember one man in a black and white shirt bottle a tackle all evening. It was fantastic entertainment, reminiscent of the Keegan years.

odpustiť si obranný zákrok
Explanation:
Z uvedeneho linku: "If you are in need of someone who is not afraid of putting their foot in, you are in luck, he will never bottle a tackle."

to Radovan Pletka: z kontextu linku ktory uvadzam som si odvodil, ze "to bottle a tackle" = "to be not quite eager to tackle and to avoid tackling" (co sa da do slovenciny volne prelozit ako "odpustit si" - "resist the urge to do something"). Takze "he will never bottle a tackle" znamena pravy opak, hrac je agresivny a nevyhyba sa obrannym zakrokom (ci uz v ramci pravidiel alebo mimo nich).

neutral  Radovan Pletka: znova opakuji, bottle zde znanena dat neco do flasky a zaspuntovat, v pripade utoku to znamena ten utok zastavit a Boro tym to vubec nedelal.

-> "man in B&W" objasnil to Prokop V.-je Newcastle, nie MBoro.ToVsakVlastnePotvrdzujeSpravnostMojhoPrekladu-ak by platilo,ze "I don't remember a B&W player bottle a tackle=Nevsimol som si jedineho B&W hraca, ze by zastavil utok", asi by N'castle nevyhralo:)

agree  Prokop Vantuch: souhlasim s nazorem, ze "bottle a tackle" znamena vynechat prilezitost atakovat soupere - viz. me vysvetleni a priklady u ceskeho dotazu. cernobili jsou Newcastle United, Middlesbrough ma barvy cervena bila

-> Dakujem. S tymi klubovymi farbami mate samozrejme pravdu, poplietol som si to:) Futbalu az tak velmi nefandim, mojou "domenou" je hokej (a hlavne NHL:)

zastavit utok

Explanation:
Dejte si to do slovenstiny, je to neco v tomhle smyslu. Zde je definice of tackle: tackle ((American football) grasping an opposing player with the intention of stopping by throwing to the ground). Bottle zde znamena zastavit
man in black and white je rozhodca, ktory moze zastavit kazdy utok odpiskanim.

I just spoke with my son, who was playing soccer for 4 years for George Mason, and he confirmed my thoughts. when you boothe a tackle, you stop the other guy, so the Boro guys let the United to go through them like knife through the butter.

agree  Jan Fatara: V tomto pripade sa vyrazom "man in black and white" pravdepodobne skor mysli hrac FC Middlesborough (klubove farby ""Boro" su cierna&biela).
