Hola. ¿Quiéres decir "half-cooked cronies"? Una "pandilla de colegas medio chiflados", diría yo. Tiene regustillo a mafia, como la "rat pack" del Sinatra, de ahí lo de "compinches". A éstos sí que no les hace ninguna gracia que suene tu móvil cuando juegan sus partidicas...Lo de half-cooked, bueno, pues que aún no se les ha ido del todo la olla pero poco les falta.
También somos un poco así en ProZ, ¿no?

Explanation:
Literally, half-cooked: le faltan unos minutos de horno, (in Argentina: le faltan un par de jugadores) but this might be too slangy a choice for a chess book. Loco, crazy, is the general idea: La gente cree que somos un puñado de locos. I am not so sure about croonies.
