English term or phrase: Chain stock (hoist)
Me encuentro con este término en el siguiente contexto:

Inspect each link of load chain for wear at saddles of links (contract area), as evidenced by shiny areas. Inspect load chain for stretched condition, checking over several sections of the chain. The diameter of new chain stock is 0.250 inch. The maximum allowable length over 19 links for used chain is 14-13/16 inches.

Aguardo su ayuda.

Desde ya muchas gracias.

Explanation:

creo que no andaba muy desencaminado, ver el siguiente texto y la figura que viene debajo:

...Examine the interlink area for the point of maximum wear (polishing, see Figure 15). Measure and record the stock diameter at this point of the link. Then measure stock diameter in the same area on a link that does not pass over the liftwheel (use the link adjacent to the loose end link for this purpose). Compare these two measurements. If the stock diameter of the worn link is 0.010 inches (0.254 mm), or more, less than the stock diameter of the unworn link, the chain must be replaced. On double reeved units, repeat this examination of the chain that passes through the hook block...

Creo por el enlace anterior que 'stock' se refiere a la 'barra' que al curvarse forma el eslabón. No sé si esto tiene un nombre específico en castellano, en caso negativo la opción que he dado podría resolver el asunto.
Saludos
