English term or phrase: geekdom
Yes, it´s obviously a made up word. What they are saying is that while people pretend to be geeks about some product, they are not prepared to pay the value.
"The geekdom is there, but not the wallet" goes the phrase.
What word/s could we use in Latam Spanish to convey the meaning of the phrase?

"Hacerse el entendido" would be the meaning of the geekdom in this case, but I´m looking for a noun or noun phrase to compare with the wallet.
Any ideas?
