English term or phrase: Suffolk County Community College,
I would like to know the best translation of this phrase from American English into Latin American Spanish.

Translators from Spain feel free to send me your suggestions in European Spanish.

It's a translation about recycling of plastic bottles in The US. Do you think the name of the community college should be translated into Spanish?

Asker: Estimado Juan, gracias por la sugerencia. Yo he visto aquí en las noticias Hispanas de Los Estados Unidos que traducen los nombres. Les decían colegios comunitarios o universidades comunitarias de Los Estados Unidos. Esto fue lo que observé en el canal Telemundo de Los Estados Unidos. Gracias por tu ayuda.

You mean, ... in the original sentence in English?

Indeed, it is not. But when I started my search, I found the word "Publico" in item #6 of first link and did not choose it as the answer because "universidad", as it's known, grants Bachelor's degree in for 4 years and community colleges grant associate's degree in 2 years. In other words, community college is a "pre-universidad" something in between high school and college or "universidad" that's why I picked item #3 as part of the translation.
Then, I found this context ... primarily two-year public institutions ... in the second link and that's when I decided to include "Publico" in the translation. I hope this answers your question.

Yes, I went to a Junior College or JC back in the 70's and the associate degree granted by a JC is like getting a trade school diploma.

Asker: Thanks Julio but is the word "public" in the original sentence in Spanish? Please let me know. Thanks.

Asker: Yes Julio. I see that you added the Spanish term "Público" in the translation of "Suffolk County Community college" Is this correct? I didn't see public in the original English sentence. Let me know. Thanks. Yugoslavia

Asker: Hi Julio, I have just got your message. I'm sorry about the delay responding. I have just got hour message. Don't worry. I understand you. I didn't see the English term"public" in the original English sentence.

Asker: It's also truth that the community colleges in The US are mostly public. These colleges are called junior colleges and the careers last for only two years. They are very short careers.
