English term or phrase: residential parent
After a divorce, usually children live with one of the parents, i.e., the "residential parent". I wonder if some term has been standardized in any Spanish-speaking country for this concept. Will appreciate your help.

padre de residencia habitual

Explanation:
I have been unable to locate a specific term (i.e. no exact hits in English, hence impossible to find in Spanish), but in more formal English this would be 'Parent of residence' so I suggest a literal transdlation of this, as a first possiblity:

'padre de residencia habitual'

Secondly, There is a reference to 'custodial parent' which really amounts to the same thing. See this doc:

Duty of parent to notify department – Residence. – (a) When the obligor parent and/or custodial parent changes residence it shall be the duty of the parent to notify the department of the change within ten (10) days.

Finally, Another possibility is 'habitual residence' (pare
nt of) very frequently used in this doc:

Divorce - Jurisdiction to entertain petition for divorce - Habitual residence State benefits - Entitlement Habitual residence

On the basis of all that, I suggest as the best answer

PHYSICAL CUSTODY - In a divorce, one of two types of child custody. A parent who has physical custody lives most of the time with the child. Compare with legal custody.
