Chick Processing (Pulling)

All equipment will be visually inspected for proper alignment and functionality prior to start-up of chick processing.
Equipment should be maintained to prevent chick injury.
Chicks will be pulled in the order assigned on the chick pull sheet.
Chicks cannot be pulled more than five (5) minutes prior to the start of a shift.
Prior to pulling the hatcher buggies with live chicks the person pulling the chicks should look under and around the cart to ensure no loose chicks are present.
If loose chicks are observed, gently pick-up loose chicks and place into a hatch basket.
Care must be taken NOT to pull carts out of hatchers and injure loose chicks out of arms reach.
Chicks should NEVER be run over.
Once the chicks can be reached, gently pick up the chick(s) and return to a hatch basket.
