Tanto la cuchara de desespumado como la bandeja de escoria y el molde madre deben estar secos y recubiertos

Ah, por adelantado: "skull", aquí, se traduce como "lobo"

Both the IATE and one of my printed sources translate “skull” (“a crust of solidified material –as metal, matte or slag- that forms on the walls of a ladle or other vessel containing this material in the molten state –often used in plural”) as “lobo”: “masa de metal solidificado, normalmente oxidada y conteniendo algo de escoria, que se adhiere a los fondos y paredes de hornos, cucharas y crisoles, de los que se puede separar"

Notes to answerer
Asker: Muchas gracias por la respuesta. Sobre 'skull' si no me equivoco, en otro párrafo del documento lo he traducido por resíduo: If a pressed skull sticks to the press head = Si queda adherido residuo del material prensado en el cabezal. Muchas gracias.
