Medical - Medical: Pharmaceuticals / Certificate of Analysis and conformance of a drug product
English term or phrase: meg/mg
Hola a todos:
La traducción es sobre los resultados del análisis de un producto farmacéutico y en una parte sale un cuadro que dice:

L Arginine Base Content

(DRUG NAME) Assay Corrected HPLC r-

The megagram (Mg) is a unit of mass in the International System of Units, defined as 103 kilograms using the SI prefix system. -
1 kilogram is equal to 0.001 megagram, or 1000000 mg. -

disagree  Neil Ashby: Although megagram exists I can't see why anyone would ever want to use it rather just 1 ton or 1,000 kg.... and most definitely not in this content.

I need to revise this further but as far as HPLC correction goes I would guess that it could be expressed in mg/mg (en relación a pureza o contenido activo).
As said, I'll try to confirm.

* mEq would be a good guess for meg but I do not quite see it linked with either arginine measures or HPLC.
Sorry for this hurried answer anyhow!!

Just a few examples of mg/mg use in the (wide) context of HPLC;

%Purity = (100 - % HPLC impurities)*[(100-%moisture-%ROI-%RS)/100]
In the example above this yields a %purity of 98.2032. You will see that this would give 0.1968 mg for the 0.2% organic impurity value. Once you convert the %organic impurities to mg, you can see that the real value of the purity is 98.2032% via a subtraction equation. For a counter ion example, just subtract this in the numerator where the moisture is. The potency value here is usually expressed in mg/mg, so its answer is 0.982032 mg active/1 mg substance.

The literature reveals that numerous analytical methods have been reported for the determination of gabapentin in pharmaceutical preparations and human serum.
Most of the HPLC assay procedures for the determination of gabapentin are based on the same approach, involving a simple automated O - phthaldehyde (OPA) derivatization followed by HPLC separation in acidic mobile phases and fluorometric detection.
Gabapentin (Vardhman Chemtech Ltd, Mohali, Punjab, India) used as an internal standard (0.9923 mg/mg) [Standardized with USP Gabapentin (0.999 mg/mg) Lot No GOEOO5.

METHOD: HPLC (ref.: Acarbose, USP36)
Column: Supelcosil LC-NH2, 4.6 x 250mm, 5µm
Mobile Phase: Acetonitrile, 0.6g/L KH2PO4 and 0.35g/L Na2HPO4 in Water (72.5:27.5)
Flow Rate: 2mL/min
Column Temperature: 35ºC
Injection: 2µL
Detector: 210nm
ASSAY vs. USP CRS (anhydrous basis)
98.3% F0M160
Labeled Content = 0.981mg/mg
