English term

in state

English to Spanish Art/Literary Music Music
'The king of all glory shall enter in state.'

I'm working on an entire church hymnal filled with flowery and at times archaic ways of expression. This song is about the ascension of Jesus into heaven , and the choral refrain has this line above as it's words. 'Enter in state' is what's giving me a problem here. I can't use 'gloria', because it's already been used and over-used in the other parts of the song. 'Pompa' somehow doesn't sound fitting for the context here. Or does it? Any suggestions for words to convey what is really meant by 'in state' here would be profoundly appreciated! Thanks.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thanks, iwerner, and everyone else for your help! I chose this because, as you pointed out, 'alabado' is very much used in religious context, and also because it fits perfectly into the prescribed meter. Thanks again!"

majestad

Hi, Bill :-)

I'd suggest "El rey de toda gloria llegará con majestad" (or some variation, such as con gran majestad, con toda su majestad...)

See this ref:

And this other one (there are many):
