TE AMO

Explanation:
"TE AMO" is the right translation of this wonderful (don´t you think so?) phrase.

In Spanish we also use to say "TE QUIERO" with the same meaning, but it is generally used among relatives, and friends.

As you have made clear that it is an expression of "passion", I would translate TE AMO without any doubts.

Good luck!

te quiero

Explanation:
You could say te amo or te quiero, depending on context - for your family, te amo - for a lover either one but I prefer ( and what we would use during my youth in Mexico) te quiero. Either one is correct but I tell my husband "te quiero". Amar is kinda dry - like you could say "amo el chocolate" (I love chocolate) but you'd never say "quiero el chocolate" (well, you would but it would mean I want chocolate....) Quiero just seems to be more romantic and personal to me. Suerte!
