English term or phrase: assistive listening devices
This is not a synonym for hearing aids.

These are devices that are often (but not always) used in conjunction with hearing aids. Examples include FM or infrared transmitters that can take sound directly from the source to the hearing aid in a noisy.

Some U.S. organizations call them "dispositivos de ayuda auditiva" through I don't recall ever seeing this term in material from Latin America or Spain. In fact, I'm pretty sure that when I've attended panel discussions on the topic in Spanish, no one ever used an umbrella term for these at all; they just stalked about specific classes of ALDs. Any thoughts on how best to translate this for a Spanish-speaking audience in the U.S.? Should I just go with the term I mentioned?
