Suggestions: Explanation: trainee: pasante (Please note: for "pasante" there is a connotation that the position is an internship as opposed to an apprenticeship) For "vacation trainee", in this case I would suggest "pasante para las vacaciones". Other possibilities include "pasante para las vacaciones de verano" or "pasante para el verano", ONLY if the document is to be distributed in the same hemisphere in which the source document was written. I would suggest the above expression, and it would apply to someone who is working in the field/area he/she plans to specialize in.
