I don't exactly know how to express "to a simple tune"...did the chant fade until it was a simple tune, or was the whole chant a simple tune sang by a girl???

Original:

Now a mighty choral chant began:Raghupathi Raghava Raja Ram, Pathitha Pavana Seetha Ram, to a simple tune, led by a girl at the microphone. It went on and on, and ceased when Mahatmaji began his speech.

Translation:

"Ahora empezó un enérgico canto coral:
–Raghupathi Raghava Raja Ram, Pathitha Pavana Seetha Ram.

Explanation:
dirigidos,( bajo la dirección de) por una chica ante el micrófono;
