El albedo es una medida del porcentaje de radiación solar que refleja un astro sobre el total recibido. Astros con superficies brillantes como Venus (en este caso por su capa de nubes) tienen un albedo elevado, mientras que astros con superficies oscuras como muchos de los asteroides tienen valores bajos de albedo.

Esta magnitud siempre se representa como un número decimal, puesto que se considera albedo 0 el de los cuerpos que no reflejan ninguna luz y 1 el de los que la reflejan toda.
