grúas marítimas/grúas para plataformas de sondeo Explanation: The fleet of handling trucks at Container Terminal Bremerhaven has been enlarged by the addition of two C 4535 Reachstackers from Linde. Eurogate is one of the leading container terminal groups in Germany; consequently they need the right equipment to move fully laden and empty shipping containers between the Container Freight Station and terminal transfer point. The premise at Container Terminal Bremerhaven extends over 180 hectares and has a quay length of 2.7 kilometres at present, occupied by 27 container handling bridges. A considerable growth during 2000 led to freight turnover volume increasing 26% to over 2.7 million TEUs, resulting in plans to enlarge the quay length beyond 3 kilometres by 2003. Up to 200 standard 20-foot containers (TEUs) can be loaded and unloaded in the yards around the buildings. Every year, approximately 300,000 tonnes of grouped and piece cargo, food, beverages, tobacco, hazardous and heavy freight items pass in and out by road truck or via three rail sidings for processing in the CFS. The Linde Reachstackers are used to handle full and empty containers from the transfer point at the terminal to the Container Freight Station area, and also to transport heavy and oversized loads not suitable for moving with existing handling equipment. Electric forklifts are employed for loading and unloading in the CFS. Heavy Linde diesel forklifts with load capacity of 12,000kg and 16,000kg move of paper reels, lumber and other freight delivered to the site by railcar. Before deciding to buy the Reachstackers, Eurogate tested equipment from a number of manufacturers, they also involved personnel from the freight station in the decision-making process. The vote ultimately came down in favour of Linde and its representative in Bremen, Willenbrock Fördertechnik GmbH & Co. KG. "What convinced us most was the operator visibility on Linde trucks and their stability in handling container loads up to 45 tonnes in the first row and 35 tonnes in the second", said Stefan Klose, manager of the Container Freight Station. Position and elevation of the cab with its generous glazing gives the driver an excellent view of the working area. "Moreover, the Linde Reachstackers' measurements enable them to maneuver comfortably in the cramped spaces encountered between rail tracks, warehouses and storage yards." A important part of the criteria Linde had to meet was the stringent noise levels specified by Eurogate and the approval of the operational team. Stefan Klose added, "Our drivers got along best with the Reachstackers from Linde and we know how important motivated personnel are to attaining our corporate goals."
