Функція брекетингу дозволяє зробити підряд кілька знімків з різним значенням експозиції. У ситуаціях, коли важко одержати правильне значення експозиції, брекетинг зробить знімки з різною експозицією, щоб Ви вибрали з них кращий. Можна зробити підряд 3 чи 5 знімків якого-небудь сюжету – автоматично чи покадрово, роблячи спуск затвора вручну. Останній варіант корисний, якщо об'єкти рухаються повз Вас швидко й нерегулярно, як, наприклад, бігуни під час марафону.
