English to English translations [Non-PRO] Art/Literary / documentary
English term or phrase:vehiculum
I have a video in English without the transcription, so I must do it myself before translating it. It's about John the Baptist. There is one word which I don't quite understand, and the only I can think of which souns similar is 'vehiculum'. In the tape, it sounds more or less like /viklum/. I would like to know if it would fit in the following text, or else what? The other possibility I had thought of is vicar, but it doesn't quite sound the same.
"One of the difficulties with John the Baptist is, well he seems to be an itinerant vicar/vehiculum. The sources for the scrolls on the Essenes are actually not only the Dead Sea scrolls, but also Josephus’, who was one of the main sources for the period. And Josephus, who names the Essenes, talks about a more itinerant group. And it seems that the overall picture is that there was an itinerant group of preachers travelling around the country and also a settled group, down near the Dead Sea."
